Newly created role underscores Franklin Templeton’s commitment to delivering world-class capital markets insights and strengthening its client and public engagements in Germany and Austria
Frankfurt am Main, 22 October 2025 – Franklin Templeton1 is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Martin Lück as Market Strategist, Germany & Austria, as of 1 November 2025. In this role, Dr. Lück will act as the public-facing capital markets expert for the Franklin Templeton Institute in the region, bringing together local insight and global research to strengthen the firm’s engagement with clients, media, and economic and political thought leaders in Germany and Austria.
In this newly created role, Dr. Lück will report directly to Larry Hatheway, Global Investment Strategist at the Franklin Templeton Institute. The Institute is led by Chief Market Strategist Stephen Dover. Under Dover’s leadership, the Institute pursues the mission of delivering integrated, research-driven perspectives on global macro trends, market outlooks and long-term themes to clients and the general public.

Dr. Martin Lück is a seasoned macroeconomist and investment strategist with more than 30 years of experience in financial markets and economic research. He is the founder and Managing Director of Macro Monkey, an independent macroeconomic consultancy based in Frankfurt, which he established in 2024.
Prior to founding Macro Monkey, Martin spent nearly a decade at BlackRock, where he served as Chief Investment Strategist for the German-speaking countries and Eastern Europe from 2015 to 2024. In this capacity, he was responsible for communicating BlackRock’s investment and macro views to institutional and wholesale clients, policymakers, and the media across the region.
Before joining BlackRock, he spent over eight years at UBS, most recently as Chief German Economist and European Economist within the Investment Bank, where he covered macroeconomic and policy developments affecting European markets. Earlier in his career, Lück held economist and strategist positions at Kepler Equities (formerly Julius Bär Brokerage), Crédit Agricole Cheuvreux, and Schröder Münchmeyer Hengst. He began his career as a junior officer at DZ Bank AG (formerly NG Bank).
Dr. Lück holds a PhD in Economics from Leibniz University Hannover. He is based in Frankfurt and is fluent in German, English and Italian.
