  • Six open architecture target-date “Smart Portfolios”, powered by Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions, are available for the eToro investment community
  • Partnership combines Franklin Templeton’s institutional target-date ETF allocation expertise with the accessibility of eToro’s “social investing” offering

London, 26 June 2025 Franklin Templeton1 is delighted to announce its new partnership with eToro2, the trading and investing platform, which sees the introduction of six new eToro-branded target-date UCITS ETF “Smart Portfolios” powered by Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions (FTIS). These new target-date solutions are accessible to eToro’s investment community effective 24 June.

eToro has embraced a smart and diversified approach to personal investing with over 110 ready-made “Smart Portfolios”. These are innovative, long-term investment portfolios, curated by eToro’s Investment Office. Depending on their individual goals, investors can copy specific “Smart Portfolios”. The copied investment will automatically mirror the portfolio’s current positions and future portfolio adjustments until the position is closed, with zero portfolio management fees.

Jenny Johnson, CEO and President, Franklin Templeton, said: "We are excited to partner with eToro. By combining our deep expertise in target-date ETF portfolios with eToro's cutting-edge social investing platform, we are now able to offer outcome-based investment solutions to a broader audience, including digital-native younger investors. This partnership underscores Franklin Templeton's commitment to expanding its client reach through innovative distribution platforms, thereby maintaining its position at the forefront of the global digital wealth ecosystem."

Yoni Assia, CEO and Co-founder of eToro said: “We’re thrilled to introduce this new suite of target-date portfolios guided by Franklin Templeton’s asset allocation expertise. Whether you’re investing to buy a house or to build a nest egg, target-date portfolios offer a simple, hands-off way to help you stay on track with your financial goals. This is another step in our commitment to providing retail investors with long-term investment solutions, wherever they are on their investment journey.”

Initially six target-date open architecture “Smart Portfolios”, powered by Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions (FTIS), with investment time horizons ranging between three to 10 years, will be accessible for eToro’s user base to copy. FTIS provides eToro with UCITS ETF equity and fixed income portfolios as well as a glidepath3 formula to achieve specific diversified target-date “Smart Portfolios”.

Matthew Harrison, Head of Americas (ex-US), Europe & UK, commented: “eToro has built a strong name by making investing more accessible, especially for those who want expert-curated “Smart Portfolios” without having to manage every detail themselves. By integrating FTIS’ robust asset allocation expertise with eToro's user-friendly platform, we are offering investors a powerful tool to diversify their portfolios and achieve their financial goals, all while leveraging the social trading features that eToro is known for.”

Sandy Kaul, Head of Innovation, Franklin Templeton, added: “Globally, we see investor demand for more personalised, goals-based portfolios that provide risk-adjusted returns. Self-directed consumers, who may have started their investing journey trading digital assets or stocks, now increasingly seek out diversification and personalised portfolios that help them achieve longer-term outcomes. Through this partnership, we aim to deliver on that need via eToro’s market leading technology and digital user experience.”

Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions translates a wide variety of investor goals into portfolios powered by Franklin Templeton’s best thinking around the globe. It serves a variety of institutional clients, ranging from sovereign wealth funds to public and private pension plans in addition to retail multi-asset clients around the world. The hallmark of FTIS´ approach is a central forum – the Investment Strategy and Research Committee (ISRC) – which generates a top-down view across asset classes and integrates insights from FTIS´ dedicated teams of fundamental and quantitative research professionals. FTIS manages approx. $87 billion in risk-based assets of which approx. $14.7 billion are managed as target-date strategies.4

  3. A glide path is a formula that defines the asset allocation mix of target-goal portfolios, based on the number of years to the target date. Initially, it suggests a higher allocation to equities to promote growth and recovery from potential losses, and as the investor approaches a target date, it shifts to a greater emphasis on fixed income to protect against market downturns. Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions’ approach ensures that it provides the formula for managing the ETF portfolios dynamically to align with the changing needs of investors, starting with a high equity allocation for growth and gradually reducing it to manage sequence and longevity risks as the target date approaches.
